Alyia Gaskins is the Assistant Director of Programs (Health) at the Center for Community Investment. In this role, she helps communities mobilize land and investment capital to expand access to healthy food, affordable housing, and transit. Prior to joining CCI, she was a Senior Associate at the National League of Cities, where she helped hundreds of municipalities pass policies to help children grow up healthier and thrive through former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Cities, Towns, and Counties initiative. Recognized for her creativity and leadership, Alyia was honored as a Next City Vanguard and as one of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce’s 40 Under 40 honorees. Alyia graduated from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor's degree in medicine, health, and society and earned master’s degrees in public health and urban planning from the University of Pittsburgh and Georgetown University, respectively.
