Field Catalyst

Field Catalyst brings together established leaders in community investment, community development, community organizing, adaptive leadership, and racial justice to cross-fertilize and refine their coaching and technical consultation skills.

FOCUS AREAS

CCI aims to catalyze field-level change by sharing its work broadly and creating a multiplier effect.

Field Catalyst helps us do this by convening established practitioners for 15 months of cross-fertilizing their experiences and expertise, strengthening their coaching and technical skills, and deepening their understanding of community investment (including capital absorption), racial justice, and adaptive leadership.

Field Catalysts Lead Change

Field Catalysts are transforming the community investment field. With boldness, clear direction, and accountability, they coach others on how to apply the capital absorption framework. Expanding our collective learning, they use their expertise to hone current tools and create new resources to reach our shared goals. Field Catalysts help others:

Identify bottlenecks and gaps in the community investment system.

Surface and refine shared priorities to guide decision-making and resource allocation.

Advance built environment projects aligned with community priorities.

Advocate for the creation of new policy and practices.

Address structural inequities in their institutions and fields.

Center the voices and vision of community members.

Testimonial

I was on the steering committee of Chicago Funders Together, an affiliate of the national Funders Together to End Homelessness. We were shepherding a strategic plan for this collaborative to help move resources. I was able to apply the capital absorption framework and thinking around racial justice to inform that work more explicitly.
