We do not automatically log personal data; you can browse our website without disclosing your personal data. We collect personal data that you may volunteer while using our services, such as signing up for our mailing list, creating a user account, registering for a course or event, participating in online and blended courses, taking a survey, downloading free publications, or ordering publications. When authorized by you, we use personal data for the additional purposes of:

  • Land Lines magazine mailings, in either paper or electronic formats;
  • ​marketing mailings for courses, publications, and other Lincoln Institute activities, in paper and electronic formats;
  • occasional mailings for Lincoln Institute activities cosponsored with other organizations; and
  • enhancing your use of our website.

Type of Data Collected

All personal data collected is volunteered by each visitor. We may collect your name, email address, and other contact information as necessary to complete a purchase or to send you mailings. We may also request information about your areas of interest as they relate to the work of the Lincoln Institute. If you purchase a publication or register for a fee-based course on our site, we collect your credit card information.

Confidentiality, Sharing, and Access to Your Personal Data

The Lincoln Institute occasionally exchanges mailing lists with selected organizations working in related fields of land and tax policy. If you have chosen to receive materials from the Lincoln Institute, you will also occasionally receive materials from these organizations. You may opt out of receiving these non-Lincoln mailings in the following ways:

We will provide the information without any charge. We allow you to challenge the data that we hold about you, and you may have the data erased or amended.

The Lincoln Institute and its book distribution partner use standard security technology (SSL) to transmit primary personal data (such as name and contact details) and credit card details.
