Carrie Blumert serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Mental Health Association Oklahoma (MHAOK), the state’s premiere, boots-on-the-ground nonprofit serving Oklahomans at the intersection of mental illness and homelessness. MHAOK is the largest recipient of HUD funding in the state of Oklahoma and connects thousands of Oklahomans each year with treatment, housing, and support. Carrie has a passion for serving Oklahomans living with mental illness and increasing access to supportive housing.
Prior to MHAOK, Carrie was elected to serve as Oklahoma County Commissioner representing District 1 from 2019 – 2024. She was the youngest female county commissioner elected in state history and worked to improve access to mental health and addiction treatment for those coming in and out of the Oklahoma County Jail. During the pandemic, Carrie lead efforts at Oklahoma County to invest over $50 million in non-profits, small businesses, affordable housing development, and eviction protection.
Carrie holds a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Services from Oklahoma State University. Her roles before serving in public office include Community Partnerships at the Oklahoma City County Health Department and Community Development for Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma. Carrie serves on the boards of the Oklahoma Humane Society and Teach For America Oklahoma City.
