As the Associate Director for State Policy and Advocacy, Christa advances the San Francisco Foundation’s policy work on housing, economic inclusion, and racial justice. Christa brings experience supporting and leading policy, power building, and systems change efforts both locally and statewide. In her role at SFF, she led the Foundation’s efforts to advance an equitable recovery, supports the Foundation’s work on election-related giving, and leads programs and portfolios that bring together advocates and organizers to develop shared analyses and agendas.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Christa helped launch the San Francisco Financial Justice Project at the City and County of San Francisco. The Financial Justice Project was a first-of-its-kind effort to work with advocates, organizers, and government to eliminate unjust fines and fees that strip wealth and resources from low-income communities of color. In partnership with advocates and government partners, we worked to eliminate or adjust dozens of fines and fees and over a billion dollars in debt. Christa’s research and work has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, New York Times, NPR, and other local and national outlets.
Christa has a Master’s in Public Administration from the Goldman School of Public Policy and an undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco. While not working, Christa can be found exploring Oakland’s hiking trails with her dog Luna or searching for the best spots for dinner.
