Gisele Fong is Senior Program Manager for The California Endowment, responsible for grantmaking, strategy development and implementation on the Los Angeles Regional and Inclusive Community Development teams. Within philanthropy and community based organizations and coalitions, Gisele has supported community power building to uplift the vast wisdom of needs and solutions around climate, environment and housing justice.
Prior to work in philanthropy, Gisele taught university courses in Ethnic Studies, Gender Studies and U.S. History. She then led an environment justice organization and participated in local, regional, statewide and national coalitions towards environmental and climate justice strategies and solutions.
Gisele served on California Air Resources Board’s Environmental Justice Advisory Committee, informing the State’s Global Warming Solutions Scoping Plan. She has served on numerous boards and steering committees including Harbor Community Benefit Foundation, Los Angeles Funders Collaborative, City of Long Beach Health and Human Services, a multi-cultural performance arts organization, and a bilingual, social justice oriented charter school.
Gisele earned her MA in Asian American Studies and PhD in History from UCLA, and is a resident of Long Beach, California. She is the proud parent of two kind and intelligent young adults. Gisele is a martial artist, voracious reader, k-drama enthusiast, and tree lover.
