Lynnette McRae serves as the director of the Connecting Capital and Community initiative (3C) at The Chicago Community Trust. Lynnette leads a multi-sector collaborative aimed at tackling the barriers Black and Latinx communities in Chicago face when accessing homeownership and building wealth. She brings to this role years of community and economic development experience in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Prior to joining the Trust, Lynnette served as the director of neighborhood strategy at Black Chicago Tomorrow, a startup focused on revitalizing communities through holistic, place-based and community-wide investment. In previous roles, she managed housing and community development efforts at the Metropolitan Planning Council and served in the federal government at HUD and the White House Council on Strong Cities, Strong Communities, leading federal interagency teams, grant making, and systems change efforts in cities across the country. Lynnette started her career in grassroots, community-based organizations and is passionate about racial and economic justice. She completed the Presidential Management Fellows Program, and holds a master’s degree in social work and certificate in real estate development from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Washington University in St. Louis.
