Tosha Tabron is a social investment officer at The Kresge Foundation. She provides capital solutions for mission-based lenders and nonprofits working in Detroit, Memphis, New Orleans, and Fresno. The program-related investments she originates align with six focus areas of the Kresge’s Detroit and American Cities Program: early childhood, nonprofit capacity building, equitable community development, neighborhood anchors, arts & culture, and the Marygrove transformation. She joined the foundation in 2021.
Previously, she worked for Invest Detroit, where she was the senior vice president of neighborhood real estate lending. Tabron financed minority-owned businesses and led real estate originations that supported this community development financial institutions’ mission to create catalytic redevelopment in Detroit communities. Prior to joining Invest Detroit, Tabron was Head of Detroit Philanthropy for JPMorgan Chase where she led the philanthropic portion of the bank’s $150 Million 5-year commitment to Detroit. During this tenure, she was instrumental in creating loan funds and procurement assistance programs for black led development firms, that have since been replicated by multiple cities across the country. Tabron has an additional fifteen years of experience in real estate, small business, and impact investing spanning her career with Bank of America.
For the past decade, Tabron has served on multiple loan and investment committees for mission-based lenders including Great Lakes Women’s Business Council, Invest Detroit, and Black Leaders Detroit. She also serves on several boards including TechTown Detroit, Eastern Market Corporation and Liv6 Alliance Detroit. Previous boards include tenure with the City of Detroit’s economic development agency, Detroit Economic Growth Corporation and Community Development Advocates of Detroit, the trade association for community development organizations.
Tabron’s career achievements have been recognized by local media outlets namely Crains Detroit Business 2018 Most Notable in Finance; induction into its 2016 40 Under 40 Class and induction into The Michigan Chronicle’s 2010 Women of Excellence Cohort.
Tabron recently completed the three-year American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking Program hosted with The Wharton School Aresty Institute of Executive Education. Tabron obtained her master’s in urban planning from Wayne State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from Grand Valley State University. A native Detroiter, Tabron resides in the city with her spouse and two student athletes.
